Able Pupils

The school keeps a register of pupils who are able or gifted and talented. The school provides for its able pupils by adapting our teaching programmes, and where appropriate providing additional extension and enrichment activities.

We offer a number of enrichment subjects that compliment the statutory requirements that we have to cover, these include, French and music, which are offered on a regular basis as well as specialist PE coaching and RE input which is offered periodically.  We also regularly use visits out and invite visitors in to extend our curriculum.  This additional subject specialist teaching enables us to extend the level of challenge that we can offer our able pupils.

For the majority of their time in school, the needs of these pupils will be met by their class teacher carefully differentiating work to ensure that it is pitched at an appropriate level.  However, when possible we may also provide some more specific input.   For example, children may be nominated to participate in enrichment courses provided by the locality group of schools and the local education authority.
